Lt. Donald Lee Morris, NRP, was
appointed to the New Castle County Emergency Medical Service in 1991. He
attended the Medical Center of Delaware Paramedic Training Program and achieved
certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic in 1993. Lt. Morris
was promoted to the rank of Paramedic Corporal in May 2004, Paramedic Sergeant
in December 2015 and to his current rank in July 2018.
Lt. Morris is a CPR instructor and has participated in the EMS Division
community CPR training program. He has also served as an Assistant
Recruiter for the New Castle County Paramedics and a Field Training Officer.
Lt. Morris has received several
official commendations, including a Commendation of Heroism for his actions
boarding a moving freighter in the Delaware River at night, to perform extended
treatment of an injured non-English speaking sailor in very cold conditions
with limited equipment and personnel on board.
He has also received a Distinguished Unit Citation for a bus MCI in
2014, a Unit Letter of Commendation for a vehicle MCI in 1994, a Letter of
Commendation for his actions in assisting in the rescue and transport of a
patient from a townhouse fire, a Meritorious Service Award from the New Castle County Fire
Chief’s Association in 2018, and numerous complimentary letters from the
public. He has also received five Pre-hospital
Sudden Cardiac Arrest Save Citations.
Lt. Morris is a graduate of Delaware Technical and Community College, where he
holds an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Emergency Services Management. He is also a graduate of the West Point
Command and Leadership Academy sponsored by the New Jersey Association of
Chiefs of Police, for which he received the Chief Harry Wilde Academic
