Book Discussions
Stretching from Georgia to Maine, the Appalachian Trail follows some of the most breathtaking terrain in North America. Bryson's classic tale of his journey along the AT is a laugh-out-loud adventure into the wilderness. You'll find here the history and ecology of the trail as well as a few hardy and quirky folks he meets along the way. It is also a story about overcoming challenges, lessons learned about nature, and the nature of small town America. If you're looking for a hike, this is the best place to be and Bryson is by far the most entertaining guide. Join one of our book discussion groups and experience the great outdoors!
Nature Walks
Get up and get walking! Explore the natural side of poetry with Delaware's Poet Laureate Jo Ann Balingit and Michele Jennings, from Delaware Greenways, on a walk along the Northern Delaware Greenway.  Or bring the family for a guided hike in Middle Run Valley Natural Area. Discover our County parks, which are free to everyone. Learn about native plants, animals, birds and more.
Nature Talks and Lectures
Author and Conservationist Ned Tillman leads us to, and through the Chesapeake Bay watershed. For the family, hear award-winning author Jane Kirkland share true-life nature discoveries and adventures. Adventurer and British diplomat Mr. Robin Shackell guides us on a tour of South American flora, fauna and peoples, without leaving our seats. Join Park Ranger Bryan Gomes, a "thru-hiker," as he recounts his experiences on the Appalachian Trail. You must see what's in his survival pack!
