Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is where everyone starts after graduating from the police academy. It is the most visible of all the components of the department and, most often, the first contact that citizens have with the police. Their primary duty is working rotating shifts to cover 24/7 response to 911 calls. Other duties include:
  • Accident response and investigation
  • Assisting in the investigation of major crimes
  • Pursuit and apprehension of felons
  • Routine patrol of assigned areas
  • Traffic control
Officers assigned to the Patrol Division have the most citizen contact of any component of the Police Department. Because of this important community contact, the officers are encouraged to to seize the opportunity to interact with citizens.
