Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program

CIT
New Castle County's Counselor-In-Training (CIT)  Program is a volunteer program for students entering grades 9-12 who wish to work with our Summer Recreation Camps.

The CIT program is a wonderful way to meet new people, learn new skills and earn valuable references for future career positions. We ask that students who enroll be committed to meeting the following criteria:

  1. Attend mandatory training sessions on team building, leadership and camp activities.
  2. Arrive promptly at camp each day. Day camp hours for CIT’s are typically 8:30 – 4:30pm. There may be some flexibility in start and end times if need be.  Wear your Staff Shirt every day.
  3. Come prepared to work hard and have fun!

Our camp season runs from June 20 – August 12, 2016. CIT opportunities are available at our five locations throughout the County. Students must sign up for at least 2 consecutive weeks (5 days per week) of camp, but no more than 3 weeks.

To apply for a CIT position please use the forms to the right and send the completed application including parental signature and reference forms to hmergenthaler@nccde.org, fax to (302-395-5892), or mail to:
