On January 13, 2016, the Route 9 Corridor Master Plan Management Committee met at Rose Hill Community Center with Design Collective Consultants and partners who will be drafting the Route 9 Corridor Master Plan. Topics included a review of the scope and schedule, ways to engage the public, and recommendations for a Route 9 Corridor Master Plan Advisory Committee. The Route 9 Corridor Master Plan represents an opportunity to define the future of this important thoroughfare in New Castle County and will build on previous and ongoing work, largely supported by grass roots efforts, to revitalize the community. The public will be an instrument part of the Route 9 Corridor Master Plan with several public meetings, and events to be garner the most public comment and support. The Route 9 Corridor Master Plan should be completed by November 2016.

WILMINGTON, DE – Wilmington Area Planning Council (WILMAPCO) held a Walkable Community Workshop, sponsored by New Castle County Department of Community Services. Making the Route 9 corridor (South of Wilmington) more pedestrian friendly was the focus of a three-hour workshop held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Rose Hill Community Center.
Sophia Hanson, General Manager of the Department of Community Services, said, “Creating a walkable neighborhood is a priority. The Route 9 corridor faces many challenges, but a safe pedestrian and biking environment will improve overall quality of life for the local residents.” The Walkable Community Workshop concentrated on identifying real-world problems and offering hands-on solutions for the Route 9 corridor. The Walkable Community Workshop was a key initiative of the Route 9 Innovation District Plan.
